One of the more appealing aspects of a Nevis holiday is that you can make of it whatever you wish. If you are into quiet and seclusion, there is ample opportunity for that here. On the other side of the spectrum, Nevis also offers a vibrant night life and party atmosphere that caters to those who like the idea of rubbing shoulders with fellow travellers and locals, too.
If your perfect holiday involves cutting loose Caribbean style, kicking back with a tantalizing island cocktail and grooving to some of the best party and dance music anywhere, then we think Nevis would be the perfect destination for you. In this article, we’ll recommend the top 5 spots for partying on the island.
1. Oualie Beach Hotel Bar
Visit the Oualie Beach Hotel Bar on a Tuesday and be favoured with their weekly beach barbecue. Saturday night, the bar comes alive with some of the Caribbean’s best Reggae musical acts. This is also a great location for a fun, casual dinner any night of the week.
2. The Great House Lounge
Situated on the now restored Nisbet Plantation, the Great House Lounge is a popular night spot with most visitors. They put on an amazing seafood buffet every Thursday night, and the venue hosts live music acts every weekend. If you fancy meeting people from all around the world, you will scarce find a more eclectic mix of international clientele than you will here. Be advised, though, that even with its vibrant party atmosphere, this venue has a dress code – no jeans or t-shirts allowed.
3. Sunshine’s
Just down the beach from the Four Seasons, this very popular night spot is aptly named after its owner. It is not uncommon to run into Sunshine himself greeting guests and creating the right mood and attitude for an electrifying night of great drinks, music and dancing. Remember to order up a Killer Bee, the venue’s own signature concoction made with honey and rum. Be careful not to over-indulge, however, as this drink is known for its “stinging” hangovers!
4. Eddy’s
Located on Memorial Square, this Charlestown fixture attracts quite a crowd on Wednesdays. Stop in and sing a little karaoke and enjoy one of the tempting offerings from their simple yet tempting casual dining menu. Local DJs also spin the latest dance music for those who like to hit the dance floor after a day of shopping and sightseeing in the Capitol.
5. Double Deuce
Located on Pinney’s Beach, this marvellously tacky nautically-themed venue has won the affections of visitors and locals alike for years. Stop in for a cold island concoction or sample one of the endless selections of beers. Looking for a simple bite to share with all the new friends you’re going to make here? They’ve got that covered, too, with delicious yet simple Caribbean-themed snacks and meals.
